**Environmental Enforcement Officer (EEO) protect the environment from crime, as well as supporting members of the public and witnesses of crime, providing reassurance to local people in the community**

As an EEO, you'll work in partnership with the local authorities you have been assigned. You will serve to maintain law that affect the environment, protect open spaces and property, prevent crime, reduce the amount of public that money goes to clearing up waste and improve the quality of life for all citizens. You'll use a range of technology to support the role, identify the perpetrators of offences and ensure successful prosecutions against those who break the law.

EEO’s work closely with members of the criminal justice system, local authorities, schools, local businesses, housing authorities, town planners and community groups to engage, education and enforce on behalf of those who want to reduce environmental crime or have been affected by this behaviour.

**Salary**
- The salary for EEO’s with National Enforcement Solutions is £25,200 based on an average 45-hour week.

**Responsibilities a**s an EEO you'll need to**:

- provide a visible presence to deter crime and reassure the local authority that we serve.
- conduct patrol duties on foot and by car.
- develop community knowledge to identify individuals and locations at risk of being affected.
- respond to calls and requests from the council to investigate incidents.
- work alongside communities, liaising with community groups and individuals.
- diffuse potentially confrontational situations with due regard for the safety of yourself colleagues and members of the public.
- act with sensitivity when dealing with situations that could mean persons are vulnerable.
- conduct initial investigations, gather evidence, complete statements, and comply with relevant legal requirements.
- interview suspects and witnesses in accordance with PACE 1984.
- issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNS).
- prepare cases for court, present case files to senior officers and the local authority ready for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) (England and Wales).
- attend and give evidence in court and at other hearings.
- complete administrative procedures.
- submit internal crime reports and criminal intelligence reports.
- act on information received from members of the public.
- gather, record, and analyse intelligence to achieve environmental crime reduction objectives and provide crime prevention advice.
- take direction on specific duties from senior colleagues.
- enforce, litter, dog fouling, fly tipping and other crimes.
