An opportunity has arisen in our Cambridge based Research and Development Centre UK (RDCUK). Our Research Scientists are knowledgeable individuals who are passionate about the development of new medical diagnostics to improve the health of people worldwide.You’ll work for the Research and Development Centre UK, part of the global R&D community of Sysmex Corporation, a medical diagnostics company based in Japan. You’ll be working with academic experts in the UK and the global Sysmex group to develop novel diagnosticbiomarkers that run on Sysmex instruments. Based in our new laboratory in Cambridge you’ll play an integral role in ensuring the development of new medical diagnostics.
**Your duties will include**:

- Running one or more projects to assess novel biomarkers of disease and develop these into regulatory approved diagnostics that run on Sysmex technology platforms
- Working on a wide range of projects from early to late stage
- Developing sensitive and validated assays for regulatory approval
- Being involved in wet lab work, in silico research, data analytics and reviewing the scientific literature
- Working and collaborating with external clinical experts
- Support clinical trials with analytical methods
- Working with colleagues across the OGT and Sysmex group
**What we are looking for in you**:

- A recently completed PhD, or at the write-up stage of your PhD, in the Life Sciences such as molecular, protein or cell biology. Part-time opportunities whilst you are writing-up are an option
- Looking to start your career in the medical devices field
- Excellent wet lab skills and confident with basic data analytics and statistics
- Advanced data analysis skills using tools such as R and Python are an advantage
- The ability to use scientific knowledge to trouble shoot and solve problems
