**Lead Youth Worker (Hub & Youth Engagement)**
We are seeking an experienced Lead Youth Worker to manage the work centrally delivered from our Ipswich town centre hub (“Hub”) in response to the needs of young people and to develop and embed frameworks that enable young people to make us aware of those needs, championing our accountable, and coordinating opportunities for young people’s participation.
The Lead Youth Worker will also provide direct support to young people accessing hub activities, and will ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures and regulations.

Direct Reports: Supervision of young leaders and youth work volunteers.
Purposes of Job: To ensure that youth work delivered from the Hub is in direct response to the identified needs of young people and support the Youth Work Manager with their development, monitoring and evaluation of these elements of the youth work programme.
To increase the engagement and participation develop and coordinate opportunities for young people to volunteer.
Base: 14 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich, IP4 1AP
Two evenings work per week is an expectation of this role.
Salary & Terms**: Salary Band E Scale 4 (£24,232 FTE) to Band D Scale 2 (£26,104 FTE) dependent on experience and qualifications.
22 pro rata days annual leave, excluding public bank holidays
(_If a bank holiday is on a normal day of work the pro rata entitlement will apply_).
Long service leave of 1 day per annum for each completed year of service up to 27 days.
Paid supervision (in a group setting with individual support as required)
Overall objectives:
- To take ownership and lead the activities of the 4YP youth work programme that take place at the Hub.
- To develop and coordinate a framework for the active engagement of young people throughout the organisation, ensuring that their needs and opinions are central to decision-making and service delivery.
- To develop and coordinate a programme for young leaders and volunteers, creating opportunities for their participation and volunteering.
- To be a designated safeguarding lead for youth work at the Hub.
Main Duties:
Hub
- To be the Lead Youth Worker amongst youth workers working at the Hub, maintaining regular contact and communication and providing general support.
- In liaison with the Lead Counsellor for the Hub, assist with the triage of young people entering 4YP services and coordinate
- To coordinate the planning, risk assessment and be actively engaged in delivering the programme of support to young people at the Hub, currently via:
- Open access ‘drop in’
- Group work
- 1:1s
- To establish and maintain effective and safe working relationships with children and young people.
- In liaison with the Youth Work Manager and other Lead Youth Worker, ensure that all youth work at the Hub is appropriately staffed.
- To ensure Health & Safety guidelines, policies, procedures and risk assessments are adhered to in all activities, being responsible for their own safety and have due regard to the safety of others.
- To champion youth work at the Hub, contributing to ensuring it is a recognised core element of the organisations offer and that youth workers feel valued as members of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
- To identify new opportunities for working with children and young people at the Hub and work with the Youth Work Manager to realise these.
Engagement and Participation
- Be a champion for youth engagement, adopting a young person-centred approach to the work of 4YP.
- Facilitate the delivery of a Young Leader’s group, or equivalent as is appropriate in enabling and promoting young people’s engagement and participation.
- Explore with young people opportunities for increased engagement through digital channels, liaising with the Marketing and Communications Officer as required.
- Enable young people to build their skills and confidence so that their participation and contribution are maximised and that they can express their views in ways appropriate to them.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- To ensure the ongoing accurate collection and completion of all statistical and outcome measurement data and case studies relating to the provision of youth work in the hub, notably Outcome Stars and any other monitoring data required by external funders.
- To support the Youth Work Manager with the collation and production of reports to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board of Trustees that demonstrates the impact of the service, notably the outcomes for young people.
- To contribute to the further development of monitoring and evaluation.
**Safeguarding**
- As a member of, and supported by, the wider Safeguarding Team, be the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns that arise from youth work at the Hub.
