To support Adam who is a young man who lives at home alongside his parents and dog. Adam has a learning disability, complex health needs, nocturnal seizures and uses a wheelchair.

Adam has Lennox Gastaut Syndrome - multiple seizure types associated with learning disabilities and co-morbid health problems. Adams seizures are nocturnal and vary in frequency.

You would be joining a small team of experienced and dedicated carers who provide person centred care to Adam. Adams care is 2:1 for moving and handling purposes, personal care and maintaining safety during seizures. You would work alongside the family who are integral to his support.

**Purpose of the role**:

- To monitor and maintain safety at night during seizures
- To promote good sleep hygiene and routine
- To provide reassurance for Adam and promote a safe environment within which Adam feels calm, happy and secure

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Work as part of an experienced team of carers, liaising with the family and team leader to provide person centred support
- Adhere to the support plan and protocols in place
- To work using a person centred approach
- To develop an understanding of Adams complex needs and adapt routine accordingly
- Assist with personal care including washing, dressing and medication administration
- Help with physio exercises and massage
- Support with management of seizures by monitoring and recording, preventing injury, providing reassurance and administering emergency medication when needed
- Moving and handling including transferring to and from wheelchair
- Maintain a clean, safe and accessible home environment, including some light household duties
- Completing and maintaining daily records

- Calm and reassuring nature
- Caring, patient and calm
- Compassionate and empathic
- Good sense of humour
- Experience of epilepsy
- An awareness and understanding of learning disabilities
- Able to respond to accordingly to variations in cognitive functioning and communication
- Good communication skills
- Good organisation skills
- Able to maintain records
- Comfortable around dogs

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £12.50 per hour

- Night shift
