Matron - Children and Young Person’s Community Nursing

We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Matron to lead Whittington Health’s Community Children’s Nursing Team. The Community Matron will provide clinical leadership and staff management, while developing innovative community children’s nursing services within North Central London. You will be responsible for leading various teams including the CCN service, Life Force palliative care team, Hospital at Home across Islington and Camden, Paediatric Nurses in Primary care and the NCL bladder and bowel team.
Senior Nurse leading teams of Children and Young Person’s Community Nursing. The post holder has overall responsibility for the management of the generalist Community Children’s Nursing Team (CCNT) which includes generalist services for children, Children’s Nurses in Primary Care and NCL bladder and bowel team and the Hospital at Home service.
The post holder will be the lead nurse in children/young people’s palliative care issues within Islington, Camden and Haringey and specifically lead Life Force Team, the Paediatric Palliative Care’
The services are provided to children and young people within NCL.

Participate in the planning and delivery of community children and young person’s nursing
Have direct line management responsibility for the nursing
Provide senior nursing/professional leadership to the nursing
Work together with clinical and non-clinical staff to design and deliver innovative solutions, to ensure the delivery of high quality
Ensure that appropriate standards of nursing care are delivered and identify and act on any issues where they could be
Ensure children and families are fully supported and identify and act on any issues where this could be
Monitor the overall professional performance of the nursing staff within the team.
Provide an accessible and authoritative presence that staff and families can turn to for assistance, advice and
To work in conjunction with the senior nursing team to develop and implement nursing practices, promoting research and evidence based
To be the local champion for children/young people’s palliative care, liaising and working in collaboration with local commissioners, consultants and multi-disciplinary team to ensure that pertinent issues are kept on the ICO agenda.
To provide an experienced liaison route through which the professionals can motivate a full range of services for the individual child/young person and family.
To provide knowledge, support, effective communication and liaison with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure provision of optimum care to child and young person and families at end of life.
To coordinate the Life Force team providing training, support and supervision.
