Registration Authority Agent

When registering new users at different sites it may be necessary for the agent to take equipment such as a laptop or printer and it is their responsibility to maintain the security of this equipment when doing so.
The role will also require the agent to carry around confidential information and take responsibility for the security of any documentation in their person adhering to Data Protection Act and Trust Information Governance and security policies.
The post holder will primarily be based at Brighton General Hospital; however, the RA team support a range of SCFT staff across a wide geographic area so the ability to travel and hot desk from other SCFT sites is expected.
- The post holder will carry out all aspects of smart card issuing and maintenance, including: Carrying-out the Registration process on the national Spine, unlocking user smartcards, modifying user access permissions in-line with policies and procedures, synchronising and renewing smartcard certificates.
- The post holder will be expected to arrange smartcard session appointments for self and other RA Agents.
- The post holder will support the delivery of Digital projects and programmes where RA resource is required and will link closely with the Training Manager and IT Trainers around issuing Smartcards and adding the relevant access.
- The post holder will be expected to liaise with IT support to ensure that the latest RA software upgrades are installed as required and that any associated software complies with current RA standards.
- The post holder will support regular audit policy and reporting in order to provide evidence to support IG toolkit submission and annual reporting to the Trust Board.
- The post holder will ensure the use of secure (locked) storage area for all RA and associated information in line with the Data Protection Act and Trust Information security and Information Governance policies in order to ensure that good governance and information security is always maintained.
- The post holder will be expected to have a close working relationship with the HSCIC Registration Authority, other Trust RA agents and Trust project and programme managers, communicating with them as regularly as is appropriate. They will be expected to regularly communicate with both the end users and sponsors in order to book in RA sessions and visits.
- Form an effective working relationship with internal informatics teams to ensure that clear and up to date advice and communication is provided to trust wide staff.
- The post holder will be expected to communicate information regarding smartcards and access permissions to Trust staff.
- The post holder may encounter members of staff that will not provide the correct documentation required for issuing of smartcards. The RA agent must always adhere to National policy and local guidelines and communicate this effectively to members of staff.
- The post holder will act as an ambassador for the Informatics service, communicating effectively and clearly in a polite and courteous manner.
- The post holder is responsible for providing RA expertise to SCFT staff and to assist sponsors with RA training and in understanding their RA responsibilities.
- The post holder will be responsible for arranging and carrying out ID checks and taking staff photos to facilitate smartcard registration & delivery sessions across the Trust sites.
- The post holder is responsible for maintaining the RA equipment such as laptops & printers; they will also be responsible for the security of all documentation. They will also be expected to maintain an orderly secure filing system.
- The post holder is responsible for ensuring compliance with National RA policy and local policy and procedures. The post holder will report any breaches via the Trust incident reporting system for audit purposes.
- The post holder will assist the RA manager in developing RA strategy and policy documents.
- The post holder will escalate all queries that cannot be resolved locally to the Trust RA manager.
