Reporting to the Head of Broking Consultancy the Technical Consultant will be responsible for providing technical compliance advisory support to clients and colleagues alike

Providing proactive technical compliance advice and consultancy, presenting and maintaining compliance solutions, including appropriate remedial action, supporting and encouraging any business development or new opportunities to support the business to implementthe agreed strategy.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Technical referral specialist
- Lead for horizon scanning of the regulatory landscape for new and emerging changes
- Develop best practice guidance and ensuring up to date published compliance guidance material and other documentation to deliver client services effectively
- Devise, draft and implement policy for communications, publications and associated support material following any regulatory change and in support of opportunities for development
- Provide technical advice and support for the maintenance and implementation of a risk and compliance framework for internal use
- Provide client servicing and consultancy services to best market standard

**Core Activities**
- Keep abreast of all relevant regulatory changes in line with the business strategy.
- Provide accurate, appropriate and timely resolution of technical queries raised by clients and colleagues.
- Oversee, maintain and develop the online Compliance Manuals including the production of content, associated Bulletins, template documents and Weekly Regulatory Updates for both businesses.
- Produce effective and practical technical compliance publications including but not limited to Newsletters and other publications, Workshops, Webinars and other technical material.
- Support the Senior Management Teams to ensure that suite of working papers/templates reflect up to date and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Pro-actively identify issues / guidance for clients and prospects in conjunction with the marketing functions to ensure websites remain up to date and reflect content to drive / support business development opportunities.
- Help to identify development and identifying opportunities for cross-selling or increasing penetration.
- Take opportunities, both proactive and reactive, to develop innovative ideas and seek opportunities additional business from existing clients on an un-targeted basis.
- Undertake projects when required, to support the business or to achieve dept. objectives.
- Provide technical support to ensure that staff are sufficiently trained to fulfil their role.
- Represent at Group Technical Hub and other relevant forums such as APCC.
- Be aware of the impact of regulatory risk on the business and report any risks to the Operations Manager.
- Keep knowledge and skills up to date, maintaining appropriate CPD records to demonstrate such and react positively to guidance provided by your manager.
- Present at Compliance events as required.
- Attend appropriate training sessions and team meetings as required.

**Skills/Experience**
- Experience in a financial services compliance role in the GI Sector.
- Good understanding and knowledge of FCA Rules and Guidance and able to research complex issues in-depth relevant to the client base and business strategy.
- Able to recognise the impact of internal and external factors on business risks.
- Able to organise own diary/workload in order to meet commitments
- Able to work independently to achieve agreed objectives.
- Strong problem-solving skills, mathematical, quantitative and analytical skills.
- Good written and oral communication and presentation skills to stakeholders.
- Detailed knowledge of products and services throughout the business and an awareness of its competitors.
- Able to translate FCA technical output into practical and proportionate advice
- Proactive team player.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Educational attainment at degree level desirable
- Relevant experience in a similar role
