Our client is an established logistics business, employing 100+ staff with multiple locations throughout the UK. They are currently recruiting a HGV Training Manager to be based from their Durham operation.

The HGV Training Manager will manage all aspects of HGV driver recruitment and training, including classroom based training and practical training out on the roads.

**HGV Training Manager - Responsibilities**:

- Manage the recruitment process for permanent and agency drivers.
- Conduct driving assessments during recruitment process and ongoing basis.
- Carry out drug and alcohol testing.
- Creation of risk assessments and involvement in accident Investigations to establish root cause.
- Undertake driving licence checks to ensure validity. Liaise with drivers if renewals are required.
- Deliver Inductions & Training for new employees and agency staff.
- Provide training to drivers on fuel economy and safety, helping them to achieve lowest total operating costs.
- Provide training on various types of HGV vehicles and trailers.
- Create training material to keep up to date with industry standards/need for new equipment (including DCPC Courses).
- Train drivers to become driver mentors/assessors and oversee performance.
- Utilise telematics data to manage driver performance and provide constructive feedback / coaching to drivers.
- Source and manage external training providers to organise outsourced training.
- Manage Tacho infringements and take any necessary corrective action.
- Give advice/retraining on WTD regulations whilst completing training in line with industry standards.
- Keep accurate and up to date training records.
- Deliver CPC training and handling associated paperwork.

**HGV Training Manager - Specification**:

- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Current C+E driving license.
- Experienced creating driver training material and conducting HGV driver training.
- Driver Assessor Qualification and Full ADR required.
- JAUPT Accredited would be highly advantageous.
- Good IT skills and Intermediate level in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Manual Handling Qualified Instructor (desirable).
- Good time management.
- Experience conveying a positive H&S message - IOSH certificate (desirable).
