About the role
- Are you ready to kickstart your career in construction and estimating with one of the UK’s leading infrastructure companies? Balfour Beatty is looking for a Junior Estimator to join our Asset and Technology Solutions department to work in the Modular Accommodation Team in Derby. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for problem-solving, and a desire to grow within a supportive and dynamic environment.

What you'll be doing
- Supporting the production of cost estimates and quotations for modular building solutions.
- Learning how to interpret design specifications and market rates to create competitive tenders.
- Assisting in managing customer enquiries and helping to maintain a strong pipeline of new business.
- Collaborating with internal teams including operations, commercial, and procurement.
- Helping to review building fleet conditions and contribute to refurbishment cost estimates.
- Gaining exposure to industry legislation and best practices in modular construction.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A team player who’s eager to contribute and grow within a collaborative environment.
- A genuine interest in construction, estimating, or modular buildings.
- Administrative experience in a sales background would be advantageous ideal for someone looking to pivot into estimating while bringing transferable skills.
- Good understanding of maths and analytical thinking - comfortable working with numbers, interpreting data, and drawing insights to support decision-making.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges with enthusiasm.
