Join our team at Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, a respected family-owned business with a proud heritage and a strong commitment to our people. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to support our busy finance function and help ensure the continued success of our operations.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Reconciliation and reporting of cash handling across the business
- Processing of branch change orders placed with third-party providers
- Daily reconciliation of branch bank accounts
- Handling branch petty cash requests
- Managing and reviewing chargebacks received into the business
- Monitoring bank accounts for BACS receipts and managing customer BACS refunds
- Collaborating with internal departments to resolve discrepancies in cash takings, identify process improvements, and mitigate risk
- Providing support to the Management Accountant with ad-hoc finance tasks and projects

**About You**
- Educated to GCSE level with at least 5 passes (Grade 5-9), including Maths and English
- Previous experience in an all-round accounts role (purchase & sales ledger)
- Experience working within a multi-branch ledger environment
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience using Kerridge systems (desirable)
- Excellent communication skills with confidence dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organisational and planning abilities, with high attention to detail
- Able to work independently, using initiative in a structured and methodical manner
- Effective time management and the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
