Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and a Mechanical Design Engineer to join one of our clients mechanical design teams based in East Kilbride.
They specialise within the design and build of specialised handling machinery for the ford and foundry industry serving customers including Ferrari, Daimler, John Deere, Renault, Volvo & Weir.
- Salary: = £45000
- Location: East Kilbride
- Contract: Permanent
- Hours: 39 per week
- Holidays: 32 days per annum
- Employer's pension contribution: 5%
Duties of the role:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing customer projects from order through to completion, including all aspects of mechanical design. You will also work closely with other departments including electrical and control engineering,buying, production and sales.
Desirable Skills & Abilities:

- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or similar
- Knowledge or experience in hydraulic or pneumatic system design
- Knowledge of mechatronics
- 3D CAD modelling experience (SolidWorks preferred)
- 2D AutoCAD experience (beneficial though not essential)
- Competence in all MS Office packages
- A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles including the ability to perform hand calculations
- Demonstrable excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A positive & enthusiastic demeanour
- Demonstrable good time management and work organisation
- The ability to fit into an established team
- Awareness of project and stakeholder management
