**Role Profile**

**Role title**: Visitor Services Site Operations Assistant

**Department**: Administration/Gardens & Estates

**Salary/Hours** 25.5 Hours per week £10 per hour

3 days per week including 1 weekend in 6

**Reports to**: Site Operations Team Leader

**Role purpose** To assist the Operations Team Leader in all areas relating to the site operations function. Working on a 5 in 7 basis to ensure customers receive outstanding experiences throughout their visit.

**Accountabilities**

1. To be responsible for the set-up of a wide range of events on site, including weddings, concerts, flower shows and craft fairs involving the movement and handling of temporary marquees and other structures, furniture, and other large items of equipment across the site.

2. Carrying out and record weekly health and safety checks.

3. As part of a team, provide responsive on shift cover to deliver on all site operations objectives including emergency and planned maintenance work.

4. To ensure site security is maintained. Holding on shift responsibility for unlocking and securing the site, including covering regular out of hours events and weekend work

5. Hold tickets for forklift driving, first aid and working at height. Attend all training as required.

6. Attend health surveillance checks as required.

7. Communicate repair and maintenance needs, identifying hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair

8. Complies with the Society’s standards and policies in appearance, behaviour, timekeeping and attendance.

9. Ensure your own safety, and the safety of others who may be affected by your actions, adhere to Health and Safety legislation and good practice in accordance with the Society’s Health and Safety Policy and follow instructions and co-operate at all times with your line manager to enable the RHS to meet its legal responsibilities. Stop work if the nature of a situation involves risk of serious injury to any person and report any hazardous situation or defective equipment to your line manager immediately.

10. Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in the post.

**Essential**
- General building
- A flexible approach to work
- Full driving licence.
- Use of IT to communicate and plan effectively
- Willing to undertake forklift driving, working at height and first aid training.

**Desirable**
- Building trade qualifications or competencies

**Experience**

**Essential**
- Working in a team completing manual tasks
- Working in a customer focussed environment
- Planning own workload to achieve objectives

**Desirable**
- Basic Health and Safety
