Infrastructure & Legacy Support Engineer

Imperial Professionals are delighted to announce that we are working with one of our high-profile clients to appoint a Infrastructure & Legacy Support Engineer on a permanent basis.
The Infrastructure & Legacy Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Information Services department support the existing physical, virtual and cloud-based infrastructure at the site. Supporting the Team Lead, this role will provide 3rd linesupport as well as proactively maintaining and enhancing the current and future technology in use across the organisation.

**Salary**: Negotiable - depending on experience
**Hours**: 37 hours pw (Monday to Friday)
**Duties are but not limited to**:
- To support the Infrastructure Team Lead to ensure all new services undergo IT Testing and Integration framework
- Ensure all configuration changes within the Server Estate and supporting processes are fully tested and documented
- Test and Integrate Services to ensure that services meet the requirements of the customer and can be released to Live in a controlled manner
- Provide 3rd Line Incident and Problem Management support to IT Services
- Ensure all Testing and Operational Support documentation is accepted by Ops prior to Go Live.
- Participate in the Major Incident Process response
- Assess any defects from Operations for improvement work
- Assess each Non-Standard Request, working with relevant teams if necessary
- Be the technical resource for IT projects as required
- Deputise for the Infrastructure & Legacy Support Team Lead as required by the Head of IT
- Actively support the implementation of the digital strategy for the site
- Work to implement and maintain highest industry standards and help to achieve necessary accreditations such as Cyber Essentials +
- Actively monitor the physical, virtual and cloud-based infrastructure within the organisation to ensure that optimum performance is available to the end-users and react appropriately to associated warnings and alerts. This includes during non-standard hoursin the event of service failure
- Administer and maintain the DR provision within the organisation and to assist with providing an effective testing schedule to ensure its effectiveness on an annual basis
- Administer and maintain the compliance and governance module within the organisation physical, virtual and cloud platform(s) i.e., Azure, adhering, where reasonably practicable, to recommended actions
- Adhere to the change control process for changes to live systems
- Administer and maintain the Backup process for all servers, ensuring that these are monitored on a daily basis. Assist with the testing of the backup process including the legacy backups should be performed termly.
- Analyse the physical, virtual and cloud-based servers to help ensure they are secured with up to date, effective Anti-virus and react appropriately to associated warnings and alerts. This includes during non-standard hours in the event of service failure
- Assist with the availability management service by determining and documenting service availability requirements and targets, and by analysing relevant business requirements, service requirements, SLAs, and risks
- Assist with the capacity management service in relation to the infrastructure within the org. This will be done by analysing and determining the performance and capacity of individual elements of the infrastructure and the timely quantification, design,and assisting with the implementation of future business requirements for IT services
- Provide assistance to any other IT teams as required to meet the needs of the organisation
**To be considered for this fantastic opportunity you will have**:
- Experience in a relevant role ideally within public sector
- Relevant IT qualification (or evidence of working towards) at Level 3 or above
- Experience of working within an IT Department providing service to a variety of customer areas
**Although not essential the below experience is highly desirable**.
- Experience of using Service Desk software systems and working to Service Level Agreements
- Experience of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Framework
- Experience of supporting and maintaining an Office 365 tenant at an administrative level
- Experience of supporting and maintain an Azure platform
- Experience of administering a VMWare environment
