Working in a call centre environment to provide a professional, accurate and prompt administrative function to facilitate the delivery of a professional, efficient and effective booking service for the Orthoptic clinics.

Using own initiative in often complex situations to ensure that patients are booked in line with local and national access targets.

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting other team members to deliver the access targets and a patient focused booking service to be part of a cohesive and integrated administrative function to the service.
- ORTHOPTIC APPOINTMENT CLERK DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide ‘first point of access’ administration for all referrals into the booking centre
- Act as first point of contact for all enquiries and referrals into the trust
- Use of local patient administration systems to manage all referrals, waiting lists and appointments for all patients in a timely manner
- Patient Access and Booking
- To register and validate all new referral requests on the Patient Administrative System, ensure accuracy, checking all details and using NHS tracking agencies (WDS, WCCG) to complete missing data. Forward outpatient referrals to the appropriate clinician for clinical prioritisation in line with ophthalmology booking rules and update WPAS once returned. Responsible for ensuring timeliness of return of referrals and expedition of any constraints to line manager ensuring that all un-prioritised referrals are proactively chased and updated on WPAS in line with departmental protocols.
