Applied Kilovolts is part of UK based IMI PLC that has a turnover of over of billions of pounds and is registered on the London Stock Exchange. Applied Kilovolts has recently celebrated its 35th birthday and has been supporting the medical science industry across the world from the beginning.

We manufacture High Voltage power supplies that every year go into approximately 10,000 pieces of medical equipment. This medical equipment is used to provide rapid testing for various infections and diseases such as COVID 19 and MRSA, providing medical professionals with the data needed to make fast decisions with regards to treatments. In addition, our products are used for cancer treatment and general scientific resource where the identification of materials is required. Over the last 2 years we have seen our business grow by 50% and we are expanding to meet the demand.

**The Role**:
**As a Principal Buyer, you will play a vital role in supporting Applied Kilovolts.**

The role of Principal Buyer is based within the supply chain and despatch team. You will be required to source products and components for the business whilst liaising with manufacturing and engineering departments. You will need to ensure that materials and services are procured to the highest quality and lowest total cost via the leanest supply and minimum liability in a timely manner working to time critical deadlines. This role will also help support other departments in **developing products** to the **highest possible technical standard**, enabling sales to support our partners and customers stay ahead in the market.

The ability to carry out this role is key in order to support the company ethos of **One Big Team**.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Day to Day guidance of the Purchasing Department.
- Help apply, monitor and positively drive department KPI’s which are Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost whilst supporting the alignment of processes and metrics to IMI ways.
- Monitor the quality, performance and cost within your role to ensure that contracts continue to deliver maximum overall value.
- Negotiate contractual terms for sourcing of direct materials, equipment and services.

**What we are looking for**:

- Experience in the electronic market is advantageous together with some knowledge in LEAN manufacturing techniques.
- Previous experience in a senior purchasing role would be advantageous.
- Manufacturing background within the electronics section.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- A full understanding of the T&Cs and Legal aspects of purchasing.
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales whilst guiding a team around you.
