The role of Welder/Fabricator is to provide support to the Facilities Management team. Duties will include the fabrication and repair of various metal work related installations. Duties will vary from the design and fabrication of safety barriers, installation of the completed fabrications and a wide range of repairs to company assets such as buildings, vehicles and machinery. Skills required will include the ability to draw (plan) small engineering projects such as barriers, work stations, safety bollards and small shelters as well as the ability to complete the works using various methods, the use of all associated welding and metalworking machinery will be essential for this role. You will be responsible for ordering the materials for each project and allocate both the time and resources used accurately to each project. You will be expected to purchase materials at the best value for the company and ensure mínimal wastage by careful stock utilisation and control.
To carry out welding and fabricating works for all Castell Howell sites, this would include the fabrication of mild and stainless steel, aluminium and other associated materials used in general fabrication.
- Plan (draw) and design in-house fabrication projects to assess quantities of materials required and functionality of the project.
- Operate company supplied vehicles, machinery and tools
- The use of industrial machinery to cut, fold, fabricate and manufacture the required product/unit
- Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations within the workshop and throughout Castell Howell sites
- Carry out general mechanical repairs to machinery at various sites
- Use of TIG/MIG/ARC/GAS welding machines
- Use of power tools such as drills/grinders etc
- Installation of completed fabrication projects such as crash barriers/buildings/handrails etc
- To maintain a work-in-progress diary that allows for optimum efficiency and use of time
- Plan and carry out work using the MaintainX app
- Allocate material costs and engineer time to each job
