The Deputy Head Greenkeeper will:
- Undertake routine golf course maintenance duties as directed by the Course Manager, in accordance with the Club’s Golf Course Policy Document and its Health and Safety Policy.
- Assist the Course Manager in the day to day running and delivery of golf maintenance operations, monitoring work progress to expected standards and schedules. Deputise for the Course Manager in times of absence to ensure planned maintenance is carried out effectively and in line with the correct operational procedures and policies.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Carry out routine golf maintenance tasks in accordance with instructions, work schedules and timeframes ensuring these are correctly performed to the required standards and in line with operational policies and procedures.
As Deputy to the Course Manager:
- Assist in the planning, organisation and implementation of work schedules that align with maintenance and development plans.
- Deliver the agreed daily work schedule to the team, monitor progress and support the team to ensure that tasks are completed to the correct standard, time frame and that work complies with Health and Safety requirements, operational procedures and the course policy.
- Ensure the Course Manage is informed early of any slippage in scheduled work, concerns about course conditions or other issues that impact on the delivery of course maintenance so that corrective action can be taken to in a timely manner.
- Supervise specific technical operations, as directed by the Course Manager, to ensure that these are carried our correctly and to H&S requirements.
- With the Course Manager conduct induction & training for staff new to the team and assist the CM with on-going training that builds the knowledge and skills of the team.
- Respond to member queries on the course courteously and effectively and follow procedures for reporting member concerns e.g., safety on the course/conditions.
- Deputise for the Course Manager in times of absence, effectively managing the team to ensure the continued smooth running and implementation of planned work.
- Assist in the maintenance of records, inventories and other information that are required for control & compliance purposes ensuring these are kept un to date and accurate.
**KEY TASK AREAS**:
1. Cut tees, greens, approaches, surrounds, fairways, rough and semi rough.
2. Maintain bunkers, ditches and tee banks.
3. Set up the golf course, including changing holes, divoting and moving tee markers, emptying bins, Drop zones and hazards.
4. Raking bunkers.
6. Identify and control pests and diseases.
7. Renovate worn and damaged turf.
8. Prepare and maintain machinery.
9. Servicing of machinery in absense of mechanic.
10. Look after and keep clean maintenance complex.
12. Manage the irrigation system.
13. Design and build golf course features.
14. Operate digger.
**PERSON SPECIFICATION**:
- NVQ Level 2. Ideally working towards or achieved NVQ Level 3.
- Preferably PA 1, 2 & 6a
- Good organisation & prioritisation skills
- Previous experience as a Greenkeeper/Senior Greenkeeper with evidence of experience in delivery of key task areas.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear explanation of requirements to staff
- Will set high standards for self and staff and consistently acts in a way that demonstrates the standards.
- A desire to continue to develop own skills and knowledge and the willingness to undertake learning and training to achieve professional development in the role**.**
Pay: £27,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
