**Salary**: £48,000-£55,000

**Place2be is excited to be recruiting for the Head of our People Department**

The Head of People is a key leadership role in Place2Be. The post holder will lead the day to day delivery of a comprehensive high quality, People customer service, delivering on transactional and transformational requirements to both staff and Counsellorson Placement.

The post holder will coach, mentor and support the People team, championing a high support, high accountability and a high performing team one which embraces a culture of Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and lives and breathes Place2Be values.
The post holder will also serve as a deputy to the Director of People and Culture.

Key areas of responsibility:

- Provide professional leadership, support and development to the people team, including sharing best practice and ensuring that relevant professional standards are met.
- Work with Head of colleagues to provide excellent leadership of the people function, role modellingPlace2Be values and ensuring these are embedded throughout the employee experience.
- Lead the execution of the people plan in core areas including Employee Relations, Workforce planning, Systems, processes and administration, Payroll, Pensions and Reward and Recognition.
- Lead on tracking and reporting People KPI’s and using this to inform and improve service and practice for Staff and Counsellors on Placement.
- Build people management skills and leadership capability across Place2Be through coaching and mentoring and training.
- Encourage retention through developing managers’ ability to form effective working relationships.
- Develop effective people policies, simplifying policies for use by both line managers and employees.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion and equality of opportunity and take proactive steps to ensure that Place2Be continues to be an inclusive employer with a diverse team.
- Represent the team on cross-departmental working groups and lead transformation projects linked to strengthening organisational behaviours, processes and systems.
- Ensure Place2Be complies with current regulations, accepted professional standards, policies and procedures and legislation (including legislation on data protection and the Equality Act.

About You
- Be CIPD Qualified
- Have extensive post-qualifying experience in HR generalist roles
- Experience of working with and supporting volunteers
- Have line management experience with the ability to foster a positive culture
- An excellent communicator who is able to write and speak persuasively to a diverse range of groups
- Posses the ability to analyse complex issues and situations effectively and to develop practical solutions
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, persuade, guide and motivate others
- Be a strategic thinker, able to deal with operational issues, opportunities and challenges
- An Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks
- Understanding of employment law and implementation in the workplace
- Proven management reporting and information analysis ability

Place2Be is the leading children's mental health charity providing in-school support and expert professional development to improve the emotional wellbeing of children and young people, families, teachers and school staff. Last year, Place2Be worked directlywith 700 schools through our in-school mental health services or training, reaching a school community of over 380,000 pupils.
Our teams provide a range of services in our partner schools to build resilience early in life through counselling, creative work and play and support a child’s ability to engage in school life. Our work, focused on early intervention, is part of the 'comprehensiveCAMHS system’.
Through our professional development programme, we are training c1200 Counsellors on Placement each year who build their mental health and counselling skills and experience through practice in our partner schools.
