**Job Purpose**

To provide support to the Head of Marketing and Development with the development and implementation of Northumberland National Park Authority’s (NNPA) communications and marketing strategy.

The marketing and development department is responsible for promoting NNPA’s work across a wide-range of project areas including conservation, farming, learning and engagement, and visitor management, The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre and Northumberland National Park Foundation to staff, members and volunteers, regional, national and specialist media, general public, residents, local communities and external stakeholders using a range of communications and marketing techniques. The department also support the delivery of content to support the communications strategies for UK National Parks, National Parks England and National Parks Partnerships.

**Key Result Areas**

Policy Development and Implementation
- Support the Head of Marketing and Development with the development and implementation of a marketing and communications strategy for Northumberland National Park Authority, including the National Park, The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre and the Northumberland National Park Foundation.
- Researching, writing and distributing media releases both through traditional and digital channels, including NNPA’s social media accounts.
- Liaising with media, preparing interviews, creating and responding to filming opportunities with National Park officers and members.
- Support the delivery of the internal communications plan.
- Assisting with NNPA projects from a marketing and communications perspective.
- Maintaining media contacts and media monitoring and recording media enquiries.
- Support an integrated communications and marketing approach, helping NNPA to meet objectives in line with the management and business plan.
- Support the creation of marketing materials and purchasing in line with the NNPA’s financial policies.
- Stakeholder engagement through communications and events both in person and through digital channels.
- Participate in out of hours communication response as and when required.

Project Development
- Research, develop, implement and evaluate marketing and communications campaigns as agreed with Head of Marketing and Development.
- Contribute to the production of NNPA publications via research, collating information, liaising with external partners and contributors, writing copy and proof reading.
- Champion, research, develop and create user-friendly content for NNPA websites and social media platforms.
- Research, develop and implement a digital newsletter.
- Support the Head of Marketing and Development with the research, development and implementation of fundraising campaigns for Northumberland National Park Foundation.

Statutory and Regulatory work
- Proactively support the promotion of equality and inclusion in all areas of work

Partnership working and liaison
- Communicate and consult with partners to ensure they are aware of the NNPA’s current marketing and communications priorities.
- Work alongside the design officer to develop marketing and communications materials when required, including leaflets and digital content which promote the National Park to visitors.
- Actively grow and manage NNPA’s mailing list.
- Work alongside the Digital Officer and Digital Content Apprentice to create new digital content using both photography and film.
- Commission and manage photographers, designers and printers.
- As part of a team, support a culture which fosters innovation, creativity, open communication and collaboration throughout the Authority.

Other Duties
- Represent the National Park Authority at events when required.

**Essential**

Knowledge
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mailchimp and WordPress.
- Demonstrable understanding of different media channels/audiences.
- Understanding of different digital analytics to measure and evaluate impact.
- Thorough understanding of different social media platforms.
- Familiar with Northumberland National Park and The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre.
- Awareness of UK National Parks and the role they play in society.

**Skills**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to adapt to different audiences, channels and purposes.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain working relationships with media, including regional and national journalists, as well as key contacts at partner organisations.
- Ability to work within a small team.
- Excellent organisational skills, working under pressure and to deadlines.
