**Visitor Centre Assistant **Experience and qualifications are helpful but not a necessity for this positions. However, you must be of a positive disposition with effective problem-solving skills and keen to learn. We are seeking a friendly and outgoing person who enjoys working with visitors of all ages. You must be able to talk confidently to groups (after training) about the work of Tiggywinkles and how to support hedgehogs and wildlife. You will be working indoors and outdoors in all weathers. Handling of some animals, whilst in their enclosures will be required, full training will be given. You will also need to successfully complete online courses on safeguarding, data protection and food hygiene. We are a relatively small team and require a team player to join us in teaching our visitors about wildlife and our work.

**Job Purpose**

This position is to assist in the smooth running of a busy educational visitor centre and to maximise the enjoyment of all who visit.

**Key Accountabilities**

Meeting and welcoming the public.

Assisting and serving in the shop.

Stock checking and rotation.

Preparing sandwiches and serving in the café.

Assisting with the smooth running of group visits, including talks, presentations and general group support.

Talking to the public about all British wildlife and our work, showing hedgehogs and answering questions (after full training)

Children’s holiday activities - mainly papercrafts.

Daily Visitor Centre maintenance including, jet washing, sweeping, cleaning / scrubbing rails and play equipment, moping, dusting and tidying this is indoors and outdoors every day.

Plus much more.

**Hours **Spring and Summer you would be working 5 days a week Tuesday to Saturday. Autumn and Winter Monday to Friday.

All Bank holidays with the exception of Christmas and New Year are part of our normal working rota with time back as part of your holiday allowance (28 days PA)
