Farm Animal Research Technician

**CMVM / RDSVS / Roslin Institute / LARIF**
**Full-time: 35 hours per week**
**Open-ended**
**The Opportunity**:
- To conduct a range of specialist procedures on Farm Animals. Preparation of animals for surgical procedures, to assist during surgery when required and to provide post-operative care for Farm animals.
- Part of a team responsible for the day to day care of a range of farm species ensuring their health and welfare. This will involve some weekend and out of hours work.
- Assist in the collections of samples and recording of data.
- Assist in laboratory and embryology procedures and the maintenance of the facilities, equipment and materials.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities and equipment used in animal studies.
- Assist in other areas of farm work when required.
**Your skills and attributes for success**:
The post will work within the dedicated team of Research Assistants, Veterinary Anaesthetists, Stockpersons, Radiographers and Researchers conducting a range of world class research involving farm animals (predominantly sheep, pigs and cattle).
- A well-organised individual.
- Knowledge or experience in farm animal procedures, laboratory techniques and data recording.
- Agricultural experience or qualification, with experience in farm animal husbandry would be an advantage.
