Bank Support Worker

The priory group are now looking to recruit dedicated bank support workers to work on a outreach basis in the York area to support a lady within her own tenancy. The Priory Group provides assessment and support for adults living with mental health diagnosis, and complex needs. Our outreach services offer 24/7 specialist support in the community with in the service users own home. This model of care is designed to provide just the right level of support; we encourage individuals to develop the skills that they need to live as independently as possible.

As a support worker with in this home you will be required to support the individual to administer her own medication, support the individual to access community involvement and professional appointments, support to maintain the tenancy, be proactive around meaningful activity, provide emotional support and also have an understanding around Mental Health however full person centred training around this individual will be provided.

Due to the requirements of this position we would be looking to recruit female support workers only

As a support worker you must be committed to working in a person centred way that promotes independence.

You will be required to be flexible within your working pattern due to the 24 hour support, these may consist of 6-12 hour shift patterns depending on activities this is a Bank support position on a 0 hour contract - shifts may not be available at this property every week however will be available to cover leave.

You will be expected to provide support in a way that reflects the wishes and needs of the individual you are supporting, and is consistent with their individual support plans.

You will support the individual to maintain a home of their own and to lead fulfilled lives as valued and contributing members of their community.

You will be expected to comply with all regulation as defined in policies, in supervisions and in training sessions.

You will also be expected to attend supervisions, team meetings and training and ensure that you provide good communication to your manager and colleagues.

You should have initiative and motivation to work alone, as well as part of an team.

You must be able to relate to people; be a good listener and communicator.

It is not necessary to have experience of working with people with mental health although this would be an advantage.

However, you must demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by people with mental health and an enthusiasm for working and supporting them to take control of their lives.

A good basic level of education is desired.
