MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVING LICENCE
You’ll be working full time at our Cygnet Hospital Bury site, helping ensure the smooth and safe running of services for the people in our care.
Cygnet Hospital Bury provides a wide range of inpatient mental health services for men and women including specialist deaf services and CAMHS provision for adolescents.
**Your day-to-day...**
- Carry out a range of duties transporting patients & hospital items
- Deliver medical equipment, stores, furniture, samples & medication
- Collect & distribute linen, case notes and items for wards/departments
- Remove & dispose of waste in line with Cygnet safety procedures
- Receive, record & prioritise job requests in line with agreed procedures
- To comply with the provisions of Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation and taking personal responsibility for own safety and health whilst at work.
- Safeguarding - The action we take to promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and protect them from harm.
- To undertake a general Portering service, providing a delivery, collection and sorting service for internal and external mail, parcels and goods, also general site maintenance duties. To also provide a driver service to be used as required for the safeand secure transportation of patients and staff.
- To carry out the collection, sorting and delivery of internal and external mail and parcels throughout the hospital.
- To accept deliverers ensuring that the correct items have been received in are good condition before signing delivery notes, ensure that signed delivery notes are passed to the Estates Administrator.
- To provide a delivery and collection service for clinical and office equipment to include clinic consumables, stationery, letters and parcels, furniture, waste cardboard and confidential waste across all hospital buildings.
- Responsible for the delivery and collection of clean and dirty linen to and from wards and to liaise with the external laundry service provider to manage deliveries and collections and to ensure that stocks of linen are maintained.
- To move furniture and equipment as required including the dismantling and disposal.
- Carry out routine maintenance checks on vehicle. Also carry and use a Hospital fuel purchase card.
- General site cleaning, pavement and road sweeping, litter picking, emptying of bins around the site and jet washing as required.
- To assist with general maintenance tasks as required.
- To complete office moves as requested by the Administration Manager.
- To wear the appropriate uniform so as to maintain a smart and clean appearance at all times.
- Report site hazards and equipment faults and incidents.
- To monitor stock levels to ensure the agreed levels of storage are maintained and report to Estates Administrator when stock need replenishing.
- To carry out written audits and stock checks as requested by Estates Administrator.
- To maintain storage areas in a clean and tidy manner ensuring floors are clear of obstruction access and egress is maintained and fire exits are kept unobstructed at all times whilst ensuring access to shelves and cupboards.
- To ensure that all tasks are carried out within the Health and Safety Regulations and Unwre that you take reasonable care not to endanger yourself or any other person or property and equipment, buy act or omission on your part.
- Monitor own hours ensuring regular breaks are taken using counter signed sheets to record
- To ensure all hospital and any hired vehicles are maintained and kept clean with sufficient fuel to cover out of hours driving
- To liaise with ward staff and head of support services to ensure bank drivers are booked and cars are available
- To drive safely and professionally to both local and national locations (within reason)
- To follow and adhere to company driving policy and procedure (82)
- To produce a weekly and monthly report on the use of the cars to be sent to the head of support services
- To report any accidents or damage to vehicles
