**Location**:This position will require travel to different locations across Wales. Offices are based at the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales, Newport.
**Reports to**:Director of Business Operations
**Contract Type**:Full Time, permanent
**Annual Leave**: 27 days including Bank Holidays

**Introduction**
Welsh Cycling is the National Governing Body for Cycling in Wales. It is now entering the next exciting stage of its development. The organisation continues to evolve and has now reset and refocused the teams to better align the work across the different areas of the Strategy as well as preparing the team for future opportunities.
The organisation is also developing the support for young people, organised activity, membership, clubs, performance within a framework of diversity, partnerships and insight.
The Cycle support team requires a Research and administrative support role to ensure that customer service and insight is central to our delivery.
**Job Purpose**
The primary responsibility for the Head of Events & Volunteers is to ensure that cycling in Wales is thriving through collaboration. By working with our partner NGBs, facilities, organisations, local authorities and dedicated individuals they will champion the workforce and develop current and build new relationships to help grow our event calendar.
The job duties for this role are as follows:
- Overall responsibility for the Events Calendar, ensuring that the right events are delivered in line with the Events Strategy;
- Work with the Sport Team to deliver Major Events, such as National and International races, in Wales and support with the creation of any event plans for these events
- Ensuring a Welsh Championship is delivered in each discipline
- Ensure current events are in the right location and deliver opportunities for young people and women to compete
- Develop new events and opportunities for young people to race
- Ensure events are being organised to the correct standard
- Work with the Cycling Event Administrator to support organisers to get events registered on the BC system
- Develop and build relationships with people/organisations to build the event calendar
- Develop the relationship with the Police Forces that sanction and support our events and provide training
- Identify venues and courses that are suitable and work with them to ensure high utilisation
- Identify and support cycling clubs to act as race promoters
- Manage and build the relationship with British and Scottish Cycling events teams and supporting departments
- Attend cycling events regularly, to build relationships with partners and volunteers and to be a champion for the work that they do.
- Recruit new volunteers to take up roles in the workforce, working with the Cycling Event Administrator to organiser training opportunities, alongside activation of the Volunteer Strategy inc. reward and recognition

- Develop organisers and volunteers by using post event feedback to provide tailored support and future opportunities
- Attend occasional organiser and commissions meetings, when required, to take minutes and share amongst all attendees

**Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)**
To ensure that this job is meeting the strategic aims of Welsh Cycling, the role holder will be monitored and supported to deliver the following KPIs:
- To increase the number of event volunteers (workforce) and clubs promoting our events
- To increase the number of individuals attending our events over the course the season (retention)
- Quality assurance survey rating from organisers riders and spectators at events
**Person Specification**
This role requires a well organised person who can manage multiple deadlines. They will need to computer literate with a basic understanding of Microsoft Office and who can deliver good customer service. We need someone who is passionate about delivering a great events calendar which will inspire people to cycle.
