Support Worker Female
Meet “Charlie”, “Jo”, and “Rachel” In Brackla, Bridgend (CF31), our passionate, friendly and all-female team support three fantastic, fiery, and fun females who share a very lively home together. “Charlie”, “Jo”, and “Rachel” are aged 40 - 76; they’re all strong-willed, full of beans, and share a lust for life that’s incredibly contagious and can’t be extinguished Each lady loves getting out and about (which is why it’s so important you have a full UK driver’s license); they enjoy trips to the beach and to the zoo, they love being wined and dined, relaxing with pamper sessions, going shopping, and attending gigs. (By the way, if you’re a Tom Jones fan and you know all the words to “It’s Not Unusual”, “What’s New Pussycat” and “Delilah”, you’ll get on really well in this home; just don’t be “Burnin’ Down the House” with your singsong sessions and don’t be chucking your knickers at any ol’ person who looks like Mr. Jones) “Charlie”, “Jo”, and “Rachel” also love sensory activities (particularly water-based interests), as well as arts and crafts, attending day centres, and visiting church. It’s also important to note that one of the ladies has epilepsy, one is a wheelchair user (so will require your assistance with her mobility), and one uses a wheelchair when getting out and about so will need your support with this. Each lady will also require your respectful assistance with personal care as and when required. How You’ll Support “Charlie”, “Jo”, and “Rachel” We’re looking for a part-time female Support Worker to work at least two days a week, 10:00 - 15:00, with occasional longer waking night shifts (where you’ll be expected to do lone working). You’ll have the freedom to proactively help each lady achieve anything and everything they want to do (no permissions necessary so long as risk assessments are done), as well as: - Being actively and enthusiastically engaged in every aspect of their lives - day or night This can include accompanying the ladies on trips and to appointments, being involved in all their hobbies, helping them to establish and maintain relationships, helping them around the house with their household chores, and supporting them with their finances, etc. - Empower and encourage each lady to try new activities and experience things they never thought possible. - Respectfully provide intimate personal care, prompting, mobility assistance, and meal-time support if/when required. - After training, administer medications, if necessary. - Safeguard each lady so that that they are always happy and comfortable, and the environments they’re in are always tidy, sanitary, and free from risks. - Write/maintain written records, i.e., risk assessments, observation logs, financial reports, etc. Please note that "Gender is considered to be a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010." Please also note it is an essential requirement of this role to hold a full UK drivers license. Who We Are We're Dimensions; one of the UK's largest, award-winning, not-for-profit adult care organisations. Since 1976, our friendly and passionate teams have provided exceptional levels of bespoke, person-centred care to people with learning disabilities and/or autism in their own homes all across England and Wales. We're different from other similar organisations because we pioneered (and still champion to this day) the true art of care; we combine devoted, deferential personal assistance with dynamic emotional support. This ensures the people who welcome us into their homes feel empowered and encouraged to live their best lives - the lives they want to live - as independently as they can. Because we respect and celebrate everyone's individuality and their respective wants and needs, we work hard to play matchmaker with our support workers and the people who welcome us into their lives and homes; we bring together the best people to give their relationships the best head start possible. In essence, we bring personality and the human touch back to care Your rewards A full list of rewards can be found in the job description attached - An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role, the cost of which will be incurred by Dimensions. - As Disability Confident Leaders, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy - Dimensions has been awarded this symbol by Jobcentre Plus to recognise our commitment towards the employment, retention, training and career development of disabled employees - We now have British Sign Language (BSL) translated videos for all of our recruitment communications.
