Role: Commodity Buyer

**Salary**: £Competitive

Location: Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, (DE13 8EN)

Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30pm and Friday 08:00am to 13:00pm, 37 hours per week

Contract type: Permanent, Full-Time

What you will be doing
- Conduct market research to identify reliable suppliers, new sources, and emerging trends in the marketplace.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply chain.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including production, logistics, and finance, to determine commodity needs and forecast demand.
- Monitor and analyse market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks to mitigate potential disruptions.
- Evaluate supplier performance regularly, including quality, delivery, and responsiveness, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimise procurement processes.

Are you an individual with the following?
- CIPS or Degree qualification would be an advantage but not essential.
- Proven experience as a Commodity Buyer or in a similar procurement role.
- In-depth knowledge of commodity markets, supplier networks, and industry dynamics.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail.
