The Government Legal Department (GLD) provides legal advice to the primary Whitehall Government departments and public bodies on some of the most important projects in the UK. **About the role**
The Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution team, works with governmental colleagues on a range of high-profile and high-value work. You’ll take on an independent caseload of work involving commercial contracts to intellectual property, constructionto admiralty, public law to judicial review. One particular aspect of litigations that’s exciting is our integration of e-disclosure platforms and other innovative work methods that you’ll use to streamline your workflow.
Our client base means you’ll often be required to advise on important issues of policy, handling sensitive information for the government and third parties. Utilising all methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution, you’ll conduct these cases in a range offorums from the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, to Arbitrations, Mediations and Adjudications.
More specifically you’ll conduct commercial litigation to provide legal advice on litigation, disputes, and contentious and advisory matters across a range of clients. Supporting the Senior Lawyers and the Deputy Director you’ll ensure collaborative efficiencywhen working with external delivery partners to deliver on time, within budget and to the highest quality.
**About you**
With relevant qualifications and the motivation to start a career at GLD, you’ll have a firm understanding of the role of lawyers within government. Your litigation experience and strong technical skills in a commercial environment showcase your legal judgement,analytical skills and an in-depth appreciation of legal risk. Your ability to communicate effectively with people internally and externally will ensure you build trust as you strive to create an inclusive working environment.
