Head of Compliance
A unique new role for you to make your own. A chance to shape our agenda and lead by example. An opportunity to inspire a growing team. This is a rare, exciting role that’ll put you right at the heart of the UK Government’s security mission. Reporting directly to the Director of UK NACE, you’ll share your expertise, steer the direction of our work - and drive change that positively impacts the future of national security.
At the UK National Authority for Counter-Eavesdropping (UK NACE), we protect national security with our technical expertise. Since 1945, we’ve helped protect against technical espionage and attacks, and provided guidance and support to the UK Government, friendly foreign governments and the critical national infrastructure (CNI). In a world full of increasing technical complexity, we ensure organisations’ information and buildings are kept safe from compromise. Our work isn’t just delicate, it’s vital, so ensuring absolute compliance with the Investigatory Powers (IP) Act is crucial. That’s where you come in.
Share expertise that shapes future strategies
You’ll engage with stakeholders across government to shape future thinking on TSCM activity. Track changes to compliance legislation, and translate any changes into UK NACE policy and protocols. You’ll even challenge senior members of staff on IP Act usage, if necessary. In short, you’ll be our thought leader on all matters relating to the IP Act in the field of national security.
Deliver vital support to teams operating on a global scale
This is a role where you’ll be working with a wide range of people. You’ll have the ear of the leadership team and be willing and able to drive our agenda and explore plenty of scope for change. Leading by example, you’ll influence from board level right across HMG departments, forming close relationships internally and externally. You’ll line manage the UK NACE compliance team and manage the associated budgets. Engage with IPCO on contentious issues. Represent us in cross-government forums. And of course, recruit, direct, and coach your team to maximise their potential.
You’ll be the go-to expert for all questions around legal compliance. Proactive and able to work without supervision, you’ll also demonstrate the resilience to tackle compliance issues head-on whilst maintaining good relationships with operational leads. You’ll liaise with legal and other key stakeholders on the IP Act, and work with the FCDO lawyers and external legal representatives on UK NACE compliance issues. And, you’ll make sure teams have absolute clarity on these matters, as you manage the compliance training of all UK NACE staff. In doing so, your work will support people operating at the front end of national security in the UK, and overseas.
Take control of a unique opportunity - and your career
You’ll be based at Hanslope Park, near Milton Keynes, with frequent travel to London. There are also opportunities for you to join teams working abroad, if you were interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the work UK NACE does on an international scale. It really is your job, bigger. Plus, at Hanslope Park, you’ll have access to an on-site gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there.
It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world.
The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a ‘Carer Confident’ workplace. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
Hanslope Park based posts attract a Location Allowance of £1,750 per annum.
FCDO Services are regulated by the Civil Service Commission.
