**Job Summary**
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth/Young person Support Worker to work with individuals aged 11-25 in a formal setting, such as supported accommodation. This role focuses on supporting the personal, social, and educational development of young people, fostering positive professional relationships, and encouraging youth voice and active participation within their communities.
Youth Support Workers collaborate with community partners, educators, social workers, and health professionals to deliver programs that build resilience, self-confidence, and social skills, ultimately empowering young people to take an active role in their own growth and development.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Youth Engagement & Personal Development**:
- Build trusting relationships with young people, providing a supportive environment where they feel valued and empowered.
- Assist young people in exploring their values, beliefs, and identity within their social and cultural contexts.
- Support individuals with key life skills, including social interactions, building friendships, and confidence.
- **Program Development & Delivery**:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate activities and informal education programs, involving young people in program design to foster inclusivity and active participation.
- Conduct 1:1 sessions, using creative and inclusive approaches to enhance aspirations and personal growth.
- **Safeguarding & Safety**:
- Ensure all interactions adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities policies, creating a safe and inclusive environment.
- Identify and address risks by liaising with the wider team to keep young people safe.
- **Community Collaboration & External Liaison**:
- Establish relationships with community groups, educators, and professionals to build a support network for young people.
- Work with external agencies and partners to ensure holistic support.
- **Support for Independence**:
- Help young people transition toward independence by supporting them with practical, social, and financial needs, encouraging skills in daily living, education, and employment.
- Engage young people in affordable community activities, building independence and connection.
- **Administrative & Compliance Duties**:
- Complete and maintain accurate records, including weekly and monthly reports, support plans, and risk assessments, in line with GDPR and organisational policies.
- Oversee daily maintenance and cleanliness of the accommodation to ensure a high standard of living.
- **Team Support & Volunteer Coordination -**:
- Manage and support volunteers, assistant support workers, and peer leaders, ensuring effective program delivery and team cohesion.
**Skills and QualificationsEssential Knowledge**
- Knowledge of methods for building rapport with young people, including group work theory.
- Understanding of local and national factors impacting young people, such as social, environmental, and economic influences.
- Familiarity with safeguarding, health and safety policies, and equalities legislation.
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic) for liaising with stakeholders and maintaining accurate records.
**Skills Required**:
- Ability to facilitate learning, promote self-confidence, and encourage resilience in young people.
- Strong organisational skills for planning, leading, and evaluating youth sessions.
- Proficiency in risk management and safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to create inclusive environments that respect young people's rights and promote justice, fairness, and equality.

**Entry Requirements**
- Completion of a DBS check.
- English and Maths Level 2 or equivalent; British Sign Language (BSL) qualification acceptable for those whose primary language is BSL.
**Qualifications**
- Safeguarding, child protection training (desirable and training can also be provided).
- Additional training or certification in mental health first aid, substance misuse, or trauma-informed care (desirable and training can also be provided).
- Must have or willing to Work towards Level 3 or higher qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Counselling, or Psychology.
**Working Hours**
The role involves flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of young people. Some travel and outdoor work may be required.
Pay: £30,200.00 per year
