**Primary Teaching Assistant - Whitehaven**

Sense Education is seeking a caring and enthusiastic **Primary Teaching Assistant** to join a welcoming and specialist **SEND provision in Whitehaven**. This rewarding role is ideal for someone passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive in both learning and life.

You will work closely with primary-aged pupils who may have Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or other learning needs. In this hands-on role, you'll support students with their education, social development, and communication—playing a key part in helping them reach their full potential.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with a range of SEND needs
- Assist in the delivery of personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies
- Use or learn alternative communication methods such as **PECS**, **Makaton**, and visual aids
- Encourage social interaction and life skills development in a nurturing environment
- Record and monitor pupil progress and report back to teachers and the wider team
- Contribute to creating a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (school, nursery, care or personal experience all considered)
- A patient, compassionate and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to adapt to the varied needs of pupils
- A willingness to learn and implement communication tools (training provided)

**Hours & Start Date**:

- Monday to Friday | 8:30am - 3:30pm
- Full-time and part time available
- Immediate start available
- No weekend; term time only
