**Brief**
Electrical Design Engineer needed for a leading defence and security organisation with offices in the Portsmouth area who are looking to employ a number of experienced and well-rounded Electrical Design Engineers that takes pride in their work.
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be degree qualified within electrical engineering or equivalent experience. The purpose of this design work is to integrate the power and data interfaces from the ships main systems to a new equipment within availablemargins and provide an installation guidance pack of electrical drawings, penetrations, cable data sheets, bills of material and installation instructions.
**What the role of the Electrical Design Engineer entails**:
Some of the main duties of the Electrical Design Engineer will include:
- Producing Integration Design Solutions for new equipment into maritime platforms.
- Carrying out installation Feasibility studies.
- Liaising with MoD and Industry Partners in the development of integration requirements.
- Undertaking Ship Surveys.
- Provide technical contribution to the Product Safety of Design Services deliverables.
**What experience you need to be the successful Electrical Design Engineer**:
Essential:
- ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Electrical Systems theory
- Working knowledge of Electrical Installation Practices
- Working knowledge of Electrical Distribution Systems
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
Desirable:
- Familiarity with electrical distribution and equipment in ships
- Familiarity with Ministry of Defence, Defence Standards (DEFSTANS)
- AUTOCAD User
- FORAN user
In order to be eligible for this role you will need to undergo Security Clearance Background Checks that require you to be a UK resident and UK passport holder.
