Senior Health and Safety Business Manager

As a Senior Health and Safety Manager at Unipart Logistics you will facilitate implementation of Unipart’s Health and Safety policies across multiple sites, provide technical health and safety support to individual sites, business units and projects, andwill promote the principle that effective management of health and safety is an integral part of efficient business and operational management.
**Senior Health and Safety Business Manager Responsibilities include:**:

- Advise management on Health and Safety Legislation, safe methods of working, prevention of hazards to health and suitability of plant, protective equipment and control measures
- Initiate timely and appropriate actions in emergency situations, contact and communicate effectively with all relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor and promote effective utilisation of the Unipart Logistics Accident Recording and Investigation Process, ensuring all incidents across the contract are reported in a timely fashion with an appropriate level of detail
- Support Regional H&S Managers with RIDDOR investigations and ensure all F2508 reports are approved by Group
- Ensure all sites have technical risk assessments i.e. PUWER/LOLER/COSHH as required
- Ensure suitable technical advice is provided by Regional H&S Managers of Group professionals at the design stage of changes to layout, systems of work and introduction of new materials/machines
- Assist GMs in the development of objectives and targets and monitor success
- Ensure compliance of the transport fleet is maintained
- Support with fleet audits and inspections
- Review and monitor training programmes and requirements
- Ensure appropriate documentation is provided to meet NHS and Unipart Group reporting requirements
- Ensure each site has a maintained Communications Cell for safety management and performance
- Regularly review and provide comment on accident trends for Business Units and Sites
- Report to Unipart Logistics Boards as required
- Monitoring the effectiveness of the Company Safety Policy by carrying out inspections in association with site management and providing written reports of such inspections, including Complete internal Health and Safety Audits, ISO 45001 internal auditsand support annual accreditation
- Ensure each site has appropriate Driver trainers and Assessors Ensure each site have appropriate MHE training programmes RIITB / ITTSAR
- Work with Group H&S to ensure Health and Safety policy and procedure supports contract needs
- Produce relevant incident information and reports for Group H&S

**Senior Health and Safety Business Manager Requirements:**
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Experience of delivering H&S at a senior level, covering multiple locations
- Personal credibility and self confidence in a customer facing quality orientated role
- Track record of working at all levels, from Senior Managers to Shop Floor
- Excellent organisation skills and close attention to detail
- Ability to use numerical skills to conduct trend analysis supported by Excel
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
- Experience of working independently but as part of a wider team
- Training experience would be an advantage
- Auditing experience would be an advantage
- Able to travel anywhere within the UK
- Driving licence and mobility is essential

**Location**: Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire - with travel to other JCB sites as required
**Contract Type**: Permanent
**Hours**:Full Time, 40 per week
**Salary**:£55,000 per annum plus car / car allowance
