My client in **Essex** is looking for an experienced **Band 7 Biomedical Science Lab IT Lead** for a locum contract.

Job Role:

- The role is home based with the requirement to travel to Colchester, Ipswich and West Suffolk Hospitals as needed.
- To be responsible for the organisation and management of Pathology IT systems in line with ESNEFT/WSFT laboratories and trust IT strategies to ensure that they support effective patient care.
- To provide audit support for all Pathology departments within ESNEFT/WSFT working with the BI team to help to devise and implement complex searches of the Pathology databases.
- To provide informed biomedical and technical knowledge and judgement in support of the Pathology IT systems, programmes and hardware in line ESNEFT/WSFT laboratories and trust IT strategies, and lead in the assessment and resolution of complex IT problems.
- Working as part of the Lab IT Team, the post will manage and be responsible for the day-to-day IT operations of the ESNEFT/WSFT laboratories.
- To provide a link between the Lab IT and Trust IT services helping ensure that the ESNEFT/WSFT laboratories strategies meets local Trust IT strategies

Qualifications and Experience required:

- **HCPC registered as a BMS**:

- Biomedical Science degree
- Postgraduate qualification or working towards qualification
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Experience of working within the NHS environment
- Experience of working within a Pathology/Laboratory based environment
- Working knowledge of a specific laboratory discipline.
- General understanding of all pathology disciplines
- Extensive knowledge and experience of Laboratory Information Management systems (LIMS)
- Understanding of impact of LIMS on downstream systems
- Knowledge of Data confidentiality and security issues in the NHS
- Understanding of PC, network infrastructure and general IT equipment
- Experience of effective co-ordination and prioritisation in a busy environment
- Working understanding and awareness of clinical and other information systems
- Interrogating databases to provide and present statistical management data
- Understanding of Risk Management
- Understanding of quality management
- High standard of customer care
- Experience of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems
- Experience of Microsoft Office
- Experience of user acceptance testing
