**The role**

As a Senior Consultant Interaction Designer, you’ll use your experience of a variety of different interaction design projects to take on more complex work and influence the direction of projects.

You’ll design journeys and interactions which helps users complete their goals. You’ll work closely with other user-centred design roles, such as User Researchers and Content Designers, to solve complex and interesting problems for our clients.

**Essential experience**

To succeed in this role, you need experience of designing to meet user needs and taking a leading role in teams.

- designed solutions that meet evidenced user needs
- placed accessible design practices at the heart of your process
- selected appropriate design patterns with an awareness of their pros and cons
- worked with colleagues to design user journeys and page layouts
- taken part in user research to test designs and assumptions

As a Senior Consultant Interaction Designer, you’ll take on more of a leadership role, and work with colleagues and stakeholders to solve complex problems.

In your CV and in the interview, please show how you have:

- used data to persuade stakeholders to take a user
- centred approach
- guided the direction of a project to better meet users’ needs
- supported others to work through their own challenges

As well as interaction design skills, there are essential core skills you’ll need to work effectively as a senior consultant.

In the interview, please show how you have:

- taken a strategic approach to your work and your role on a project
- tactfully challenged stakeholders’ views
- investigated, defined, and resolved complex problems
- confidently presented decisions to stakeholders
- helped people with different motivations work together

In the interview we’ll ask you to present a piece of work which demonstrates these senior interaction design and core skills.

**Desirable experience**

Some areas of experience are not essential but relevant to the role:

- designing to UK government service standards
- the Government Digital Service (GDS) assessment process
- using prototyping tools
- HTML and CSS experience
- working in Agile delivery teams
- planning and facilitatingworkshops

**Salary**

Senior consultant salary range: £64,000 - £78,000
