Triple West Medical has been assigned by a Trust in Wales to help recruit for them a Consultant Rheumatologist on either a Substantive or a 12 month NHS Fixed Term basis.

This is a full time post. The appointee is expected to have appropriate experience in Rheumatology and is required to be on the specialist register, have CCT or recognised equivalent and be within 6 months of obtaining it at the time of interview. The post comes with 3 SPAs and the appointee is encouraged to develop a special interest, research, teaching or managerial agenda with an aim of enhancing the development of the department. The post is compliant with the Welsh Consultant contract.

Duties of the post

To provide a generalised Consultant Rheumatology service for outpatient, inpatient and day case management of Rheumatology patients.

To participate in all medical/postgraduate and multidisciplinary training/educational activities already established.

Participate in departmental meetings, audit and clinical governance activity (including appraisal and revalidation).

Participate in Royal College of Physicians Continuing Professional Development scheme. The Health Board funds recognised study leave, and is supportive towards external commitments to the Royal Colleges and Welsh Consultative structure

Timetable

The proposed sessional commitment would be as follows:
Outpatient sessions/MDU: 5

Ward Rounds / in patient referrals: 1

Clinical admin: 1

Supporting professional activities: 3

Job planning and specification of sessions are negotiated on an individual basis. Currently this post consists of and is paid at 10 sessions.
