**Job Advert**: *** Do you want to make a huge difference to a person with a learning disability? Could you spare a little time just 6 times a year? Would you be up for picking up a pair of knitting needles? (Don't worry, it is easy to learn) - We are looking to recruit a volunteer to develop a friendly relationship with a 70 year-old lady that we support in Lostwithiel in Cornwall. This role would involve a visit once every two months, for a total of six visits a year.- This delightful lady is strong-willed, and unafraid to speak her mind. She would love nothing more than a friendly chat over a cup of tea and a knit. A reliable, confident, and friendly volunteer would be just the thing for this role. She really is a joy- The Mencap Visiting Service was founded in 1963. It meant that the parents of a person with a learning disability could know that someone would in look in on them when they were no longer around. Our visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, our visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.
