DESIGNATED NURSE FOR LOOKED AFTER CHILDREN SAFEGUARDING TEAM,

The Designated Nurse role should at all times and in relation to the roles and responsibilities listed, lead and support in fulfilling their responsibilities to children who are looked after. The Designated Nurse will advise and support all specialist LACprofessionals across the health community. This role is a strategic role with no Named Nurse responsibilities. The role sits within the Wider Safeguarding Children Team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Advisory Role Provide advice to the Local Authority on questions of planning, strategy, commissioning and the audit of quality standards including ensuring appropriate performance indicators are in place in relation to health services forlooked after children.

Work with all health care organisations to monitor performance of local health services for looked after children. Ensure expert health advice on looked after children is available to children's social care, health care organisations, residential children'shomes, foster carers, school nurses, clinicians undertaking health assessments and other health staff.
