We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Programme Delivery Practice within Atkins **Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology (ADS&T)** as our Professional Head of Discipline (PHoD).

In Atkins ADS&T our Programme Delivery practice comprises ~ 200 staff who support the effective delivery and commercial management of Atkins Projects and provide best practice Delivery Consultancy Services that enable a wide range of clients to deliver complex portfolios, programmes and projects and improve their delivery processes.

As our **Professional Head of Discipline**, you will oversee Practice development and act as an advocate for our **Programme Delivery Services** across the business helping us build our capabilities, services and Portfolio, Programme and Project Management (P3M) and Delivery reputation, inspiring everyone in the profession to be as passionate as you are.

Leading our team of Technical Authorities, you will help to define and share what good P3M Capabilities and Services look like and represent the practice within and outside of Atkins ADS&T. You will help us to further develop our services to meet the growing and changing client needs.
**Your purpose**:

The objectives of a Professional Head of Discipline (PHoD) are to -_**
- Provide technical leadership in the discipline.
- Build technical excellence in staff.
- Support market and sales activities, especially practice led sales enabling the development of high-quality winning bids.
- Proactively collaborate and share technical expertise across Atkins and SNC Lavalin building our engagement and role within the newly formed Global PPM Practice.
- Ensure high quality P3M deliverables for our clients.
- Ensuring our Project Management training and development meets both our internal delivery needs as well as supporting client facing consultancy.
- Impress clients with discipline technical expertise and knowledge.

You will do this by -_**
- Defining and delivering the Programme Delivery Capability Development Strategy ensuring alignment with other capability areas in ADS&T and SNC Lavalin and enables the development of our staff and integrated services for our clients.
- Raising the profile of the Practice Group’s technical capabilities in ADS&T and SNC Lavalin.
- Ensuring consistency and best practice across the Practice Group.
- Creating capability development collateral and client marketing propositions.
- Facilitating the development of technical staff.
- Encouraging innovation, Keeping up to date with emerging technologies.
- Supporting recruitment.

We are looking for someone who is passionate and experienced in the development of Programme Delivery capabilities in our staff as well as the design and implementation of Programme Delivery services for our clients who has a growth mindset and an innovative, fresh approach.

You will have the depth of P3M experience, foresight and aspiration to help transform our Programme Delivery services using innovative thinking and where appropriate technology to help us develop and implement compelling delivery solutions for our clients that optimise portfolio, programme and Project delivery and enable them to deliver more efficiently and reliably.

Skills and experience you will bring -_**
- An experienced Management Consultant.
- A qualified P3M practitioner and member of relevant professional bodies such as APM; holder of Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) or a commitment to achieve within 12 months of starting in the role.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Portfolio, Programme and Project Management and Governance.
- Recognition that successful project delivery is predicated on effective leadership and people management capabilities as well as structure, governance and control.
- Awareness of structured and Agile methodologies and when and how to use them to best effect.
- Active interest in current and future trends in P3M.
- Credibility to advise clients on best practice at a senior level evidenced through both knowledge and practical experience.
- Experience of leading / inputting to winning P3M solution / services bids.
- Skilled in creating a common sense of purpose, providing clarity of vision and empowering teams to deliver.
