**Job description**:
The BEIS Counter Fraud team is looking for a counter fraud professional with the experience, skills and personal qualities for a Grade 7 manager. The individuals will be part of the team managing the delivery of counter fraud activities across all BEIS schemes including, but not limited to, the Energy Schemes, COVID19 schemes, Local Authority Grants Schemes as well as managing Arms Length Bodies and a range of internal and external stakeholders.
We lead on a range of areas, from the business support measures designed to protect the entire economy to the safeguarding of the country’s critical energy infrastructure. We are the lead department on Net Zero, the UK’s commitment to a net zero greenhouse gas emissions target by 2050. Overall, this makes BEIS an exciting and varied place to develop a career.
**Person specification**:
Maintain and evolve BEIS counter fraud strategy, aligning to central function principles to direct and drive counter fraud response across BEIS and its Arms Length Bodies.
To lead on the roll-out of the BEIS action plan and to demonstrate compliance with HMG wide standards.
Leading on the work to develop and implement policies and procedures to manage potential for fraud, bribery and corruption.
Proactively raising the profile of counter-fraud work to support policy teams across BEIS and its arms-length bodies.
Leading improvements to performance reporting and accountability for counter-fraud performance across the BEIS group, working closely with investigation colleagues, the Public Sector Fraud Authority, arms-length bodies and other government departments to deliver maximum value from current activities and achieve best practice.
Advising and supporting BEIS partner organisations to develop and meet Government Counter Fraud Functional Standards to improve the prevention, detection and reporting of suspected frauds.
Advising and supporting BEIS partner organisations to develop and embed Initial Fraud Impact Assessments and Fraud Risk Assessments to improve the prevention, detection and reporting of suspected fraud.
To support the development and implementation of professional standards in counter fraud and grant administration in BEIS and its partner organisations, including the Public Sector Fraud Authority.
To advise colleagues on the management of fraud and abuse of taxpayer support through well designed policies and lessons learnt from the post assurance activities.
To develop cross cutting skills to support and influence colleagues to achieve VFM and compliance with managing public money.
Briefing Ministers, senior officials, internal and external stakeholders and providing high quality written and oral presentation of policy options and counter-fraud advice, based on the best data and intelligence available.
Representing the Department in cross-Departmental discussions on counter fraud issues. Contributing to requests for evidence from the National Audit Office and Public Accounts Committee inquiries as appropriate.
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with policy colleagues, analysts, other government departments, BEIS and external stakeholder
