Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Band 6

Flintshire Early Years Integration and Transformation

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit an enthusiastic and innovative Early Years Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to work across Flintshire.

The successful applicant will be part of the Flintshire Early Years Integration and Transformation project. This is a programme funded by Welsh Government to facilitate an early years system that enables children, pre-birth to age 7, to get the best start in life; a start that provides a strong base and opportunity for each child. Its aims are to transform and integrate services to enable a more seamless and combined service for both the child and their families. The role will align closely with Flying Start services and you will be working with a range of professionals across Health, Local Authority and childcare sectors

The successful applicant will be responsible for devising specialist engaging and interesting training packages and evaluating their outcomes as part of the EYIT project. In this important role you will also assess, diagnose, treat and independently manage a small but specialist and varied caseload of children up to the age of 7, including those with additional needs, working closely with core Speech and Language Therapy services. You will work with parents and a range of other professional multi-disciplinary groups and stakeholders across a variety of settings E.g. clinics, family centres, nurseries, schools and patients’ homes.

Applicants must demonstrate
- A track record of participating in service development initiatives E.g. Providing training to parents and other professional groups.
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent relationship management experience

Experience of working with children with complex additional needs is desirable.

The SLT department offers a wide range of opportunities for CPD and is committed to providing excellent levels of support and clinical supervision including supervision sessions and in-service training days.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
