**Summary**: **About the position**:This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the RAF Croughton, UK. - Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required. - Must be able to physically lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 lbs. - Must be able to stand, walk, move around for extended periods of time. - Must be willing to travel between 422 FSS operating locations. **This job is open to**: **The public**: - U.S. Citizens, Nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S. **Clarification from the agency**: Please see the "Who May Apply" section under the Qualifications section. **Duties**: - Assists the information technology specialist concerning day-to-day operations, system administration, database, life-cycle management, information assurance, configuration and project management for FSS Command Reporting system and automated programs for all FSS activities. - Serves as the alternate Equipment Custodian (EC) for security issues associated with Force Support systems. Provides life cycle management for equipment. - Initiates corrective actions in situations where unanticipated or difficult machine stoppages or program errors occur for which prescribed operating instructions are inadequate. - Reviews processing schedules, run sheets, and related instructions to identify precedent processing requirements and potentials for program or data base contention in order to restructure operating schedules and priorities when recovering from interrupted operations - May travel between 422 FSS operating locations as needed. **Requirements**: **Conditions of employment**: - This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results. **Qualifications**: The area of consideration for this vacancy announcement is citizens, permanent residents, and legal residents of the United States (US) who reside within the local commuting area (60 mile radius) of RAF Croughton, United Kingdom (UK), or will do so within the next 30 days. Time spent in the UK as an employee, or dependent of an employee, of a US agency serving and supporting the US Visiting Forces (i.e., active duty military, federal civilian, AAFES, Red Cross, one of the contract universities, a military banking facility or federal credit union, or US government contractors) is not counted toward being 'ordinary resident'. - Business Based Action - Family Member Preference - Military Spouse Preference - Outside Applicant Veteran - Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran - Transition Hiring Preference **Qualifying Experience (MUST BE SUPPORTED IN RESUME)**: - Working knowledge of common operating systems and basic computer hardware components. - Ability to follow established procedures for system monitoring and maintaining routine operations under supervision. - Ability to identify common system problems through error messages and alerts, follow troubleshooting guides, and perform basic corrective actions such as system restarts, simple configuration changes, and equipment resets. - Experience following work schedules and processing queues, adjusting job priorities based on established guidelines, and managing multiple routine tasks simultaneously. - Familiarity with command line operations, following step-by-step procedures for software installations and updates, and executing routine system commands. - Ability to work in structured operational environments, follow detailed procedures, maintain accurate logs, and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors about system status and issues. **Education**: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
