**Summary**:
As a Yard Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of the yard, ensuring that the Yard Management System (YMS) is kept up to date, and managing trailer checks. You will supervise shunters, arrange holiday cover, and provide support in trailer cleaning, audits, and general yard operations. Your role will ensure that all activities are carried out in line with safety standards and company procedures.

Available Vacancies: Sunday to Thursday (18:00-06:00).

**Salary**: Up to £49,772.74.

Location: Wakefield site.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Take ownership of the yard's daily operations, ensuring that the Yard Management System (YMS) is consistently up to date.
- Organise shunter schedules and holiday cover as required.
- Provide shunt cover when needed and assist with trailer cleaning as necessary.
- Ensure all daily vehicle and trailer checks are completed thoroughly, with any defects reported accurately and promptly.
- Conduct full trailer audits at the start of each shift and maintain awareness of all loaded trailers in the yard.
- Monitor for new damage to vehicles or trailers returning to the site and report any issues immediately.
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are loaded correctly, maintaining appropriate product temperature and ensuring goods are secured before leaving the depot.
- Oversee the safe parking of empty trailers within the yard by providing clear instructions to drivers, ensuring compliance with site safety regulations.
- Monitor and control the temperature of loaded trailers, fuel levels, and mains wire connections for refrigerated units.
- Ensure compliance with DEFRA guidelines for trailer cleanliness and maintenance.
- Ensure all vehicles are operated safely and in compliance with company policies and UK legal requirements.
- Drive vehicles in a safe, legal manner, with respect for other road users, while protecting the company's reputation.
- Ensure the safe delivery and collection of goods, minimising risk to yourself, colleagues, and the public.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including the upkeep of tugs, units, and trailers.
- Provide clear instructions and guidance to drivers and shunters in the yard to ensure smooth and safe operations.
- Lead by example, promoting adherence to company procedures, rules, and policies at all times.
- Work across various shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by customer demand.
- Overtime may be necessary, in line with the Working Time Directive and driver hours regulations.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in yard supervision or a similar role within a transport or logistics environment.
- Strong knowledge of trailer checks, vehicle maintenance, and Yard Management Systems (YMS).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions.
- A valid driving licence with a commitment to safe driving practices.
- Familiarity with DEFRA guidelines and trailer maintenance standards.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
