M&S Store Detective Dartford/Kent

As a Store Detective, you will be working in a well-known retail store, where your main role will be to prevent and detect theft, supporting normal Security staff by working undercover to stop theft. You will be representing BardWood and our client, providinga service to the highest standards in a fast paced, prestigious store. The position requires you to have a high level of self-presentation, customer service & communication skills are essential along with a positive/helpful attitude.

**Job Details**:
**Shift pattern**:45hrs a week, Tuesday to Saturday (must be willing to pick up extra days if needed).

**Rates**:£12.02 per hour

**Location**: Dartford/Kent

**Requirements**:

- 5-year checkable work history
- Valid SIA badge
- Valid right to work (passport/visa etc)
- Valid NI Proof
- Valid DBS
- Valid proof of address (dated in the last 3 months)
- Excellent communication
- Excellent customer service

**Required duties**:

- Patrolling a store during opening hours, to watch for shoplifters
- Using equipment such as closed-circuit television (CCTV) to observe the store, two-way radio to contact colleagues, loop alarms, mirrors, and electronic security tags on goods
- Watching customers who are acting suspiciously, or are recognised as a previous offender, and keeping notes of what you see
- Working undercover as a customer to watch and follow potential shoplifters
- Detaining suspected shoplifters, taking them to the manager’s office and possibly searching their clothes and possessions
- Helping other staff deal with customers suspected of credit card theft or fraud
- Calling the police, reporting what you have seen and being present when the police question a suspect
- Talking to witnesses to collect evidence and writing up reports for both the police and the retailer

- Enthusiastic in delivering service excellence
- Highly observant.
- Good at communicating and dealing with people.
- Able to handle sensitive situations.
- Able to use their initiative and make quick decisions.
- Polite and helpful.
- Physically fit and healthy.
- Able to write short reports.
- Able to deal with modern surveillance systems such as CCTV and security tags.
- Confident to challenge or tackle people when necessary.
