- We are looking for a Support Worker to join our Service based in Conwy on a permanent, part time basis (14 hours a week). Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.- Due to the nature of this service, we are looking for applicants who hold a full, clean driving licence.
About our service
The service in Llanrwst, Conwy supports one very independent gentleman who likes to do as much for himself as he can. He really enjoys the company of others and has many interests. He is a big rugby fan and looks forward to his trips to see a game. When he is not in work, he likes to visit the local café, go to the cinema and watch TV. He is looking for a support worker who is friendly and who will support and encourage him to do more in his local community. It is very important to him that he is treated with dignity and respect and that he is supported by someone who has a positive and friendly personality.
An example of a working week could look like this:
Morning visit - 1.5 hours (08:00 - 09:30)
Evening visit - 4 hours (18:00 - 22:00)
Including alternate weekends
You will need to have:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required
- Ability to work to deadlines and within a constantly changing environment
- Ability to complete paperwork
- A willingness to participate in sleep-ins is highly desirable
- A full drivers licence and a willingness to take out business insurance is essential for this position
- You must have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability and in return we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us.
- What does a Support Worker do?
As a Support Worker you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life. You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally caring and patient personality. Typical responsibilities may include:
- Supporting people to live independently - budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
- Excellent communication skills and Relationship building - supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
- Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
- Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day. This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
