Commercial Litigation Solicitor/ Associate 1 - 4 pqe Leading Legal 500 Ranked Team West End - London My client a Legal 500 firm based in the West End dealing with complex cross border work are looking to recruit a solicitor in commercial litigation of1 - 4 pqe to join a highly successful team. My client is an independent law firm, with a rich history. A centuries-long tradition of advising private families, individuals and charitable institutions is today complemented by our work with businesses and entrepreneurs,from asset managers and sports bodies to international media groups. They look to be the market leader in our chosen areas of expertise, advising clients on the contentious and non-contentious legal, business and personal issues they face. They have been describedas a "likeable bunch". The Team The commercial dispute resolution team handles a full range of litigation matters which are often large scale, complex multi-jurisdictional disputes. The team is organised into eight sub-groups or "pyramids" which reflect thedisputes it handles. These are: Fraud and Asset Recovery; Reputation Management; Property; Arbitration; Data, IP and Technology; Art and Cultural Property; Financial Services and Banking; and General Commercial Litigation and Corporate/Shareholder Disputes.Junior solicitors within the team are encouraged to work across a number of these sub-groups and can expect to gain a broad exposure to the work carried out across different parts of the team. Clients include businesses (private companies, family businessesand partnerships), financial institutions (banks, asset managers and wealth managers), individuals (HNW and UHNW individuals, family offices, established entrepreneurs, senior executives, investors and art collectors) and institutions (sovereign institutions,cultural institutions, universities and schools). Scope The role will involve dealing with a range of disputes for the firm's clients, which typically translates into a highly varied and interesting "generalist" practice. The caseload is of a very high qualityand for the most part the opposite parties in the dispute are represented by City firms. Responsibilities - Assist in managing a busy client portfolio dealing with large, complex and cross-border contentious matters. - On a day-to-day basis, draft correspondence (including both advisory and contentious communications), dealing with disclosure, drafting witness statements,attending meetings and hearings, and negotiating. - A number of cases involve significant e-disclosure - experience in relativity/magnum/other systems and large-scale e-disclosure is an advantage.
