Effective daily management, administration and running of a Flying Start Setting based in St John Lloyd Flying Start, Cardiff

2. Adhering to the Policies and procedures of Darling Buds FS Limited.

3. Monitor and comply with the Children Act 1989 and Health and Safety legislation, all within the requirements and guidelines put in place by the C.I.W.

4. Ensuring that confidentiality within the setting is maintained.

5. Be responsible for recruitment, management, training and discipline of all setting staff. However, staff are not to be officially reprimanded, brought for private discussion in the office or have any disciplinary action taken against them before a discussion is held with and authorisation is given by Director prior to the meeting.

6. The day to day occupancy within the nursery and to take appropriate action to ensure that occupancy levels are maximized objectives.

7. Ensure that all recruitment processes within the setting comply with Company Policy, the Employment Legislative framework and C.I.W. requirements. As well as carry out all appropriate checks for all new employees.

8. Ensure that high standards, ratio’s and conditions of registration are maintained at all times.

9. To be the designated person responsible for child protection within the setting and to ensure that any concerns regarding child protection are acted upon immediately and appropriately.

10. To ensure that record keeping is accurate including completing weekly reports on

occupancy and staffing.

11. Action and monitor all parent’s issues, complaint’s, risk assessments and accidents.

12. Organise and attend regular stay and play sessions.

13. Prepare the setting for C.I.W. annual inspections and action any recommendations made by the inspector/s as well as ITERS inspections.

14. Regularly review regulations and requirements imposed by the C.I.W including policies and procedures and action any updates required. In addition, ensure that all relevant members of staff are informed of any such changes are implemented within the setting immediately. It is the responsibility of the Leader to monitor and ensure that new requirements are being carried out effectively and to seek further training if required.

15. Ensure care, maintenance and security of equipment and resources within the setting.

16. To attend any conferences, training event’s or meetings to keep up with current good practice. This includes organising regular meetings after working hours with staff to discuss and prepare on going planning and activities provided for the children.

17. Supervision of staff, volunteer’s and student’s, conducting regular staff supervision meetings (this must be undertaken on a rota basis to ensure that each member of staff receives a supervision each month and last no longer than 30 minutes), recognising training needs, monitoring training and developing teamwork. Organising of regular staff meetings and in-house training.

18. Ensure that appropriate level of qualified/unqualified staff are maintained within the setting in accordance with C.I.W. requirements.

19.. Ensure the safety, well-being, contentment and happiness of staff, students and volunteers.

20. Dealing with staff in a professional manner. Ensuring that staff are able to express their views, voice their opinions and even complain without fear of reprisal.

21. Ensure that all staff concern’s and complaints are dealt with immediately and in a professional and non-threatening manner.

22. Maintain accurate personnel records for all employees.

23. Offering all staff and children Equal Opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural, linguistic or social background.

24. Ensure the safety, security and well-being of all the children registered.

25. Researching and updating new ideas and projects with staff to ensure that children are stimulated with fresh new ideas and to monitor that this work is being carried out effectively.

26. Maintaining accurate and up to date records for all children including attendance register’s, medical information, emergency contact numbers etc.

27. To liaise with parent’s/carer’s with regards to their child’s needs, thus ensuring that the setting has an accurate overview and commitment to partnership with parent’s.

28. To monitor and control all costs within the setting.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Temp to perm

Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

**Experience**:

- Nursery: 2 years (required)
- Childcare: 2 years (required)
- Management: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- QFA Level 3, 4 or 5 CCLD or equivalent Qualification (required)
