**Rapiscan Systems** is an industry leader in detection technology, providing cargo and vehicle inspection systems and services for ports, borders, military, high-threat facilities, and checkpoints to help customers combat terrorism, drug smuggling,illegal immigration, and trade fraud.
The Network Engineer will carry out R&D IT tasks in support of Engineering and Operations as part of the Advanced Detections Systems (ADS) engineering team, including producing technical documentation, network configuration, system fault finding, settingup and configuring Server Hardware and Software from scratch.

**Key Responsibilities of the Network Engineer**:
- Produce and review technical documentation
- Knowledge of networking systems with Cat 5/6, fibre optics, switches, etc.
- Configuring switches, firewalls etc.
- Producing engineering documentation including work instructions, test reports, IT equipment configuration & specifications for client and R&D projects
- Building Linux and Windows servers from bare metal
- Installation and support of bespoke software on Windows and Linux systems
- Some UK and foreign travel to customer sites for setting up systems
**Skills & Experience Required**:
- Previous experience in similar Network Engineer position
- Graduate level Degree in IT/Computing
- Strong understanding of Networking Basics and huge interest on that would be considered
- Quick learner and interested in IT/Technologies, keen to learn
- Networking hardware, Cat5/6, fibre optics, switches
- Networking protocols, IP addressing, routing
- Server Hardware and Operating system from bare metal
- Some Linux and Windows administration experience
