To be a valued member of Schoolhouse Daycare Ltd; Contribute to the overall ethos, core values and vision of the company and Nursery; Make recommendations for the future development of the nursery. Be aware and demonstrate a clear understanding of own role and areas of responsibility; take pride in your work and area. In the absence of the Deputy Manager, assist with the overall management of the nursery, including liaising with external agencies. Work in Partnership with the Manager and Deputy to ensure the daily running and administration of the nursery, adhering to the policies and procedures of Schoolhouse and CSSIW National Standards. Be responsible for any tasks delegated by manager and give support to Nursery Nurses and Assistants within the nursery. Act as a mentor to students on placement, offer appropriate support and guidance as required. Ensure confidentiality is maintained in the Nursery. Be responsible for a staff team in a designated area of the nursery; Supervise Nursery Nurses, Assistants and students in area of responsibility and provide feedback to the Manager/Deputy on issues relating to the nursery day. Inform Nursery Manager/ Directors if you have any concerns about individual staff practice or any situation that may be detrimental to the company Fully Comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Schoolhouse Health and Safety Policy and all agreed methods of work; Ensure that all staff are aware of their own responsibilities. Comply with Schoolhouse’s Equal Opportunities, Child Protection and Confidentiality policy at all times. Keep up to date and comply with legislation concerning Equal Opportunities, SEN, Child Protection, Food Regulations and schoolhouse’ policies and procedures. Maintain a working knowledge of regulations and code of practice and ensure these are adhered to within the Nursery. Ensure nursery dress Code is adhered to at all times; be well presented, punctual and reliable. Model exemplary professional standards at all times and act as a role model. Ask for advice and support as required. To undertake additional and/or other duties as may be appropriate to achieve the objectives of the post and as directed and deemed necessary by Nursery Manager. Be familiar with office administration procedures relating to the efficient running of the nursery. Assist with the prompt collection of fees; Keep petty cash sheets up to date; Develop a working understanding of the nursery budget; answer the telephone. Work with the manager to prepare monthly charges for invoicing; arrange the collection of nursery fees and deposits as appropriate; assist with the recovery of outstanding payments. Assist and ensure Nursery records, reports and registers are maintained as determined by the manager to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are met. Share in the task of welcoming prospective families and new children to the nursery; Share responsibility with the Deputy and show prospective parents around the nursery. Work alongside the nursery team to ensure that the philosophy behind Schoolhouse is fulfilled; use as a guide for daily activities and nursery routines. Develop effective communication systems to ensure that each member of staff is clear about their roles and responsibilities in the nursery. Support and supervise room staff with their day to day duties. Show leadership, including initiative, fairness and consistency, to involve and motivate the team. Implement a programme of supervision and performance management in accordance with Schoolhouse’ aims and management style; Undertake quarterly reviews under the guidance of the Nursery Manager/Deputy Organise staff in area of responsibility including staffing ratios, effective monitoring of staff performance, effective delegation, communication and promoting positive attitudes regarding Schoolhouse. Implement techniques to ensure all jobs and requests are completed on time and well using diaries, rotas, communication book Ensure that all staff are made aware of and comply with the policies and procedures of the Nursery at all times, Review accordingly. Monitor staff. Ensure they are trained, motivated appraised and developed in a positive manner to ensure they fulfil the provision in their job descriptions; provide honest constructive feedback to support and encourage team members. Contribute to the identification of own team developments. To agree training and developmental plans for each member of staff which support the future development of the nursery. Be responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe and acceptable standard of practice that meets CSSIW criteria. Establish systems to ensure the continuous quality improvements and effectiveness of the Nursery. Assist in preparing the Nursery for CSSIW and Estyn Inspections, as well as Quality Assurance and IIP Schemes being undertaken by the company.
