**Position Summary**
The purpose of the Lead Planner is to coordinate materials and production planning of the Value Stream to maximise the customer experience and financial performance whilst minimising inventory. LISC (line items shipped complete) improvement, inventory reduction (DSI) and profitability increase are key deliverables to this role.
The Lead Planner will report directly to Materials & Planning Manager and will coordinate day to day work of Planner/Buyers in their respective area.
**Position Summary**
**Main responsibilities (not exhaustive)**:
- Produce production plans & capacity plans for current and future demand.
- Provide recommendations, and create scenarios for the S&OP process.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external suppliers to maximize material availability and inventory optimization.
- Ensure the team provide responsive and effective support to the Customer through the Oracle Engagement Cloud (OEC) ticketing system.
- Ensure the team make optimal make vs. buy decisions on a daily, weekly & monthly cadence to optimise service and cost.
- Daily oversight of the open order book, taking appropriate actions to maximize on-time delivery.
- Ensure Kanban systems are in line with demand profiles to minimize stockouts while ensuring inventory is minimized using PFEP (Safety, Buffer, Cycle Stock sizing) methodologies.
- Ensure through appropriate training, development and feedback that the Planning and Purchasing team members achieve their full potential
**Qualifications**
- Demonstratable Production & Capacity Planning and Materials planning experience.
- Continuous improvement mindset and knowledge of principles of Inventory optimisation / Kanban / PFEP.
- Motivated and customer focused, with excellent communication skills.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office, specifically excel. Power BI would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of MRP, ideally JDE.
- Ability to successfully implement change.
