Our client is working in partnership with Rolls Royce SMR (small modular reactor) to recruit a number of Physical Security Officers. These roles are crucial to the programme whereby you will be responsible for the development of physical security solutionsrelating to security design requirements of physical protection systems.
These are hybrid roles / home-base roles with an office location at either Warrington or Derby.
**The Company**
Rolls-Royce SMR is a start-up joint special purpose vehicle (SPV) business, specifically created to design, construct and deliver a new fleet of Small Modular Reactors power plants that will be a critical and strategic player in the race to Net Zero carbonemissions globally. Spun out of Rolls-Royce with its pedigree in engineering excellence but also attracting world class inward investment this is an exciting new business with an optimistic opportunity to be a global player in the coming years.
**The Post**
This exciting new post will be responsible for the development of physical security solutions relating to security design requirements of a Physical Protection System, including interfaces to Safety & Engineering disciplines underpinned by a Secure by Designapproach. The post will be integral to ensuring that physical security designs are delivered with appropriate security functions for Physical Protection Systems, aligned to ONR Security Assessment Principles (SyAPs), guidance and regulatory documentation.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Work to requirements and within the nuclear engineering space
? Excellent knowledge and understanding of all aspects of physical security ideally within delivery focussed projects
? Thorough understanding of threat assessment methodologies and developing mitigating solutions
? Recommend security requirements and identify solutions
? Thorough knowledge of physical security codes & standards
? Provide specialist advice and recommend approaches across teams and various stakeholders
? Communicate widely with other stakeholders
? Advise on important security-related technologies and assess the risk associated with proposed changes
? Inspire and influence others to execute security principles
? Help review other people’s work
**Required Competencies**:
- Understands the appropriate level of Risk in the Company.
- Has a grasp of any implications of Public Relations.
- Understands and applies appropriate Corporate Governance to decision making.
- Understands appropriate Commercial and Corporate law decision making.
- Understands Safety & UK Regulatory Affairs
- You can review proposed site layout, operations and plans and provide security advice/guidance based upon a sound knowledge of the UK Design Basis Threat and the Civil Nuclear industry regulatory landscape
**Qualifications & Experience**
**Qualifications**:
- Globally recognised security qualifications, or equivalent experience.
- Member of a recognised security professional group/institute
Essential Experience:
- Minimum 5 years physical security experience in a delivery focussed project/organisation.
- Nuclear sector experience, including in-depth understanding of ONR security regulation.
- Strong understanding of development and delivery of Physical Protection Systems.
- Security Systems Design pertinent to manage levels of risk and implementation of proportionate security control.
Desirable Experience:
- Understanding of blast protection/engineering
- Counter Terrorism contingency planning/operations
- Security Engineering
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
